This is an overview of the Pony Express Saddle & Bridle Club, Inc. a non-profit organization, its activities and officers. We are a saddle club whose grounds are located on the northwest corner of Saint Joseph on County Road 379. We have been in existence for 55 years and are geared towards activities that the whole family can enjoy, from showing to trail rides to family cookouts. We pride ourselves on being an affordable organization that can be enjoyed by all, from youths to adults. Our activities over the years have not only included fun outings, but also activities that help our community. In the past, we have donated to causes such as the St. Joseph Area Food Pantry and M’Shoogy’s Animal Rescue in Savannah, MO. We also helped sponsor a fundraising event for a local youth stricken with cancer. We support local youth and 4-H horse clubs by providing ground use for classes, clinics and shows as well as events and clinics sponsored by local feed distributors and clinicians. These events help our attendees become better-informed owners and teach the proper care necessary for a healthy, happy relationship between families and the animals they care for. The club has volunteered for the Adopt-a-Trail program and adopted a portion of the Crows Creek trail at Smithville Lake. Members go in monthly and maintain the designated section of trail by picking up the trash, trimming branches, etc. Our adopted trail runs from Jack Rabbit Bend to Access 24 which is approximately 4 miles. 2005, we also became the host site for the local Pony Express Chapter of
the national Cowboys for Christ organizational meetings as well as the
Savvy Dogs, St. Joseph, Mo.
